The classic DKB lamp originally designed and developed for the extension of The Royal Library in Copenhagen (1999) is now available in an updated version with the newest and best quality LED light source. The new teqnique will not lead to any visible changes in the design and we are proud to see a well designed product proof its value and sustainability by “still going strong” after more than 10 years and aproximately 10.000 pieces sold on the world marked! Our classic and popular Flakes chair by the Finnish manufacturer Piiroinen, has now been launched in a new 2.0 version.
It has the same simple and timeless design as the original handmade glass fiber version from 2005, but is now injection molded recyclable  polypropylene. The design has been slightly up scaled to give added back support and comfort, particularly important for applications such as meeting rooms, restaurants etc.
The up scaled seat provides superb backrest support without compromising the simplicity and ease in which it can be handled. Furthermore, the added acoustic properties of polypropylene, as a material, adds value to the interior space by giving a soft and pleasant sound.

We are exited to welcome a new partner; HAGS - a leading swedish manufacturer of urban furniture with great history for high quality products and ambitions to get even better! We have been assigned to create a new series of urban furniture elements and the first part has just been launched at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2011 which was a great success with great interest for our modular bench system GRID.

The process of design with DanSign has been incredibly enthusiastic, with a fantastic energy from both sides in developing a new innovative interior solution.
DanSign’s vision in encouraging, and importantly their willingness to explore this expansion to their product portfolio has led to a completely new way of creating a communication product.

The University of Aberdeen is the fifth oldest English-language university in the world. It was established in 1495 and it houses over a quarter of a million books and manuscripts. The new library serves a community of 14,000 students. The 15,500 square metres of floor-space accommodates 1,200 reading spaces alongside archives, historical collections and a rare books reading room. The library is positioned on a base of Scottish stone, and it is designed to be welcoming, connecting the library space with the city and the people surrounding it.  The interior project by shldesign is developed to emphasize the strong architectural elements and at the same time create the delicate balance and transition from large to small scale.  

The extension to Nykredit consists of a new building - the Crystal - sited northwest of the existing Nykredit premises. Freestanding on the site, it reads as a transparent, geometrical, glazed form which, resting only on a single point and a single line, floats as a visually light, crystalline structure above the plaza. In terms of both form and scale, the building is intermediate between the city and the harbour, and harmonises with neighbouring buildings.  The interior of the building is constrained by the demands of functionality, flexibility and efficiency. The typical floor plan is disposed in a Z-shape around two atria, which ensures that all workstations are well lit and enjoy a view. 

shldesign has been assigned by Philips to create a lamp using their newly launched LED “modules” and through this explore new ways of using this specific, minimized and powerful light source.
The result is “TORCH” - a simple yet multifunctional design that allows the user to adjust the light spread by moving and placing the LED module according to the light outcome desired - spot, flood or anywhere in between! TORCH will be available in its basis as a shelf/floor standing up light and as pendant. By mounting one or more TORCH basic lamps on a wall base, a table or a floor base and on a chandelier hanging base, various products are composed and thereby possible to use in for example domestic, office and hotel interiors.
